Summer Camp for Kids! (7 to 9 years)

10th of July, from 11:00 - 15:00

Fab Lab Limerick invites kids aged 7 to 9 years to take part in a 4-day Summer Camp, to explore their imagination and creativity using digital technologies!

€120 per child

The Summer Camp promises loads of great activities! From 10th - 13th of July, from 11am to 3pm each day.

We also have an older kids’ Summer Camp, from the 17th to the 20th of July. You can get more details about that here.

During these four days kids will turn into real designers, makers and innovators through learning and testing various materials and techniques of digital fabrication.

We will kick of the fun by using the laser cutter to prepare a pieces for our own wooden games, toys and jigsaws! We will build marble runs to dip into to the building and engineering principles. And build our own ‘Mission to Space’ Game where on a Swiss-cheese like board we’ll try to transport the precious cargo along the designated route while avoiding the many dangers (holes ) along the way.

We will build propeller cars and race them (of course!) and cut out and assemble various wooden pocket games and jigsaws that kid’s can take home with them!

Everyone will get the chance to test out Fab Lab’s 3D printers, and take home their very own 3D printed miniature toys and designs! We will learn and try out techniques that can translate 2D drawings into 3D objects by creating a wooden notebook covers, engraved with a child’s drawing or a photograph to make it very unique.

We will make basic electronic circuits with e–textiles and LEDs to learn about conductivity, resistance and other electronic principles! Once everybody understands the basics of electronics we will make our own electronic ‘monsters’ using felt and conductive thread.

All materials will be provided by Fab Lab Limerick and each child will be able to take home their individual projects. No personal computers/tablets are permitted at the camp.
